Home made Roller handle for Lee press

I used the Lee factory handle that came with the Classic cast press. Here is what I used.
1-Black Handle knob for a side wind trailer jack. $1.50 Most any Trailer sales place.
    1- 5/16 x 4" Stainless coarse thread Hex bolt $1.68 Lowes
    2- 5/16 flat washers. $.44 Lowes
2- 5/16 Nylon insert lock nuts. $.76 Lowes
First I removed the wood ball from the handle. Then I flattened the end of the rod to receive the handle knob. I hammered it till it was where I wanted it on both sides. I then drilled a pilot hole 1/8" followed by a 5/16". I drilled half way then flipped it and came in from the other side. Leaves no burrs that way. The handle knob has a deep side and a shallow side. The hex head of the bolt goes on the deep side with 1 washer then it will be recessed in the handle. I placed the bolt through the knob then the other washer followed by a lock nut tightened down enough so the knob rotates but don't have alot of side to side play. It rides on the 2 washers. That lock nut also keeps the knob from hitting the rod. Then install it to the rod with the 2nd lock nut and your done.
Nothing to do with function but after I drilled the rod I rounded the corners and polished the end I hammered then re blued it.
Works great. It will also work on the Cast Turret press.

Looks like it works well. I made 1 that looks like the ergo handle that inline fabrication has.

A tool maker friend and I made a nylon rotating handle for my Hornady Pro-Jector press several years back. I used it for about 2 years, not really caring for it. We removed the handle, made a new off set handle to the same specs as original and using some red color old pool table balls drilled a hole in them and epoxied a ball on the handle. After using this project for about 7 years I can say I like it better. I must say that these 2 different ways to make a handle are neat to look at.Robert
