I Like my SMLE and No.4, both are un commonly accurate, but only after much tuning, if I were to pick a rifle off a rack not having fired that particular rifle before I'd expect the Swede or any other quality made Mauser to be far more accurate than a run of the mill LE with unknown history.

Well, I have one SMLE that cocks the bullet on firing. I suspect that accuracy issues may have something to do with throat geometry (aside from poor stock fit issues). I would of course expect an off the shelf Swede to outshoot a run of the mill Lee Enfield hands down. Just not my Lee Enfield.

I think the Lee Enfield is a fine battle rifle and makes a fine hunting rifle (apart from a very mediocre safety - which I never use anyway).

OK guys, we were talking about Swedes, a rifle from a very peace loving people. Both of you have strong opinions, no doubt you're both right. How about we leave it at that?

I had bought one of the '96 rifles when they first came here, snagged a beauty for $89, plus cheap surplus Norma ammo was available. Sold it when I managed to pick up a '38 short rifle, very nice, for $79. Unfortunately, sold that too, so currently Swedeless. lol

    Both were extremely accurate.

Based on what I originally paid for them, and what they're going for now, I think I would find the cure unpalatable.
