Swedish Mauser Still in Official Use

Was in Stockholm Sweden a few days ago, saw the Mauser still in use with the ceremonial palace guard.

Much easier to shoulder and perform drill than a full-auto battle rifle, mush less effective if he has to ward off a terrorist attack. Hopefully he has backup close-by.

Think that is a female soldier. Check out the length of the hair and other obvious differences. Frank

The 6.5 Swede works just as well today as it did 100yrs ago. It is one fantastic "do all" round.

The 1903 Springfield is often seen in military parades and events over here.
That does not mean it is still a Service Rifle.
    They are mostly Drill rifles

I see some of the hottest, model like, blonde female police officers I've ever seen over there. Absolutely amazing, also some of the cleanest police cars ever. Reminds me of the Eddie Murphy movie. lol

I go to Sweden every couple of years, seems like different units of the army do palace duty from time to time in different uniforms and weapons. I've seen everything from Swedish K's to what looked like FN FAL's.

The carbine is still a service weapon for the Liv Guard 1st Kavalry for palace guard duty.
They are carried cocked and locked with live ammo.

We had a Canadian Soldier shot and killed in Ottawa a few years ago while guarding our Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
I would bet his rifle was not loaded. Assailant was shot and killed by the Sgt at Arms in our House of Commons.
I assume our soldiers on ceremonial duty still carry empty rifles. Not the way to go in today's world.
