    CLOSED: MP-Molds version of 155 grain 45 cliber SWC boolit - previously made by LEE

    As requested in this thread:
    OLD THREAD HERE

    We will be proceeding with a light weight SWC boolit in 45 caliber.

    This boolit was previously made as a custom Lee mold. However, the method of running that group buy was clumsy, collecting money in advance, etc. We will do this one as a MP-Mold group buy. No money is needed up front, just need folks to sign up for a mold, and we'll make it happen. Payment is due only when the molds are actually ready to ship. So, here goes.

    Here's the design:

    You'll see that it looks a lot like a H&G #68, except lighter

    This MP-Mold will be offered in three mold configurations, 2 cavity brass, 4 cavity brass, and 6 cavity aluminum. These are solid nose ONLY. NO hp options. None needed. The boolit is pretty amazing as-is.
    Please sign up for your cavity preference. When we get enough signups, this Discussion will shift over to ACTIVE, and we will start collecting final orders.
    As always, you can also add a set of handles to your order for an additional savings. Normally, Miha charges 23 EUROS for handles. If you add handles to your order (ever mold needs a set of handles!), you will get them shipped with your mold at only 20 EUROS. Also, DHL shipping will assure that you will get your molds in 3 days (door to door), and that's well worth the $6.83 US.

    We need the following information:
    This is the ORDER list, I need the following:
    * Screen Name
    * How Many molds ?
    * How many Cavities?
    * Lubed (grooved) or Powder Coat style (no grooves), if you don't specify no grooves, it will be presumed that you want lube groove. This is the only option for this mold.
    * This is plain base ONLY
    * It is SWC ONLY, no HP options
    * Disguised email address
    * Zip Code
    * Handles or no handles?
    * DHL shipping (an additional $6.83 US) or regular shipping.

    Reminder:

    This is a custom mold, for a lightweight 45 ACP type bullet not generally available anywhere else. This is a first run mold for MP-Molds.

    Hoping than when folks realize the onderful opportunity that this mold represents, they will sign up.

    Just a word of caution… Has ANYONE had success with this design?
    I own a Lee 2-cav version of this and nothing so far has yielded acceptable results. I have two guns that shoot sub 1" groups at 25y with H&G 68. They will not hold 6" with the 155 grain SWC and also get some feeding issues.

    See my profile pic. I keep it as reminder to myself that one of the coolest designs has had the worst results.
    Shoot from a rest at 25/50/100 yards, then post your groupings. That is the only way to compare accuracy results.

    Thanks Whistler...was just about to sign up. I haven't used anything lighter than the 200g. SWC...I hope that the 'powers to be' will allow discussion about this...I'll just stand by for further developments, load recommendations & results of tested recipes.

    Few thoughts.............

    The H&G 68 is the classic standard for 45 ACP boolit design. However, this is just a slight bit lighter than the 200 grains of the H&G68.

    Some simple adjustments on the powder load should have this one shooting same point of aim as with the H&G 68. Perhaps a powder change also might assist. I have a bunch of 45 acp cast boolit molds, and find that using Titegroup powder works wonders for accuracy. Many of you are likely using Bullseye powder, which has a burn rate Ok for some boolits, but maybe not all.

    Titegroup powder (Hodgdon) is a sweet all around powder, and I use a lot of it for my 9mm's, .40's, and 45's. I buy it in 8 pound jugs the way many of you buy Bullseye.

    Try that, and see how things go with these lighter 45's.

    I'm still taking sign ups for this mold!!!

    Is this buy dying on the limb? I guess I will back out of here also. I am number 1 on the 4 cavity list.

    Sheesh... Why back out?
    The molds will eventually get made, but NOT if everyone keeps losing patience. It's a wonderful mold.
    I've had dozens of molds that I have signed up for over the years, and totally forgot about them.
    Unlike the other guy who is active here at CB, Miha does NOT require any up front payment, so there's no financial obligation at this point to stay in the buy.
    I'll remove you but it sure doesn't help the other people who are more patient. Let me know if you change your mind.
