Quick and esy thermocouple mount for Lee bottom pour pots

2-3 hours using off the shelf parts. One bend, no drilling. As built will keep the thermocouple approx. 1/2" from the pot side and approx. 1/2" off the bottom.

    Parts required:
    2 each 8-32x1/2 screws
    2 each #8 flat washers
2 each #8 split lock washers
    2 each 8-32 nuts

    All hardware should be stainless.

1 pack Hillman part number 884485 90 degree angle corner plate
1 pack Hillman part number 884479 mending plate 6HL 1/2"x3"

    White vinegar
    Cold blue
    Oil

    Auber 6" K type thermocouple.

Bend the mending plate 90 degrees to make a tab the same size as the tabs on the corner plate. Soak both Hillman parts with white vinegar in a plastic coffee container to remove the zinc galavinzing. This soak may take 2-3 hours and you might need to change the vinegar once. Get all the zinc off the parts. Rinse in water. Apply 3 coats of cold blue then wipe with Rig oil or Barricade. Assemble using the top hole in the mending plate and corner bracket and the bottom hole in the corner bracket for the screws. Torque down hard. Pick a screw on the Lee pot top edge and mount through the hole in tab you bent in the mending plate. Melt alloy in pot, insert thermocouple through the holes in the corner bracket.

63/37 Sn/Pb is a terrible boolit alloy but its other use pays the bills.

I made one out of plumbers strap bent double and used the bolt on the pot to anchor it. I already had the plumbers strap.

I drilled a hole in an old hard drive platter and just set it on top.

I just used a piece of bailing wire wrapped around the tc and run under one of the pot lip screws. Quickly adjustable and you can tip the whole apparatus out of the melt if you need to.
