New PSA 300BLK Pistol... Favorite Loads?

    Hey Guys!

I just got a 300BLK pistol from PSA, but am new to the caliber.

It's an 8.5" 1:8 barrel. Gotta love PSA prices!

I don't have a can, so subs aren't my focus at the moment.

It'll be my short range deer and HD gun with supers for inside the house.

What loads do y'all like for the BLK?

The lil 300 has been a constant for me in the deer woods here in the NE since 2013. I simply cannot "leave it home"!

I really like 296/H110 (max+ published loads + 2200+ fps) and a 125G bullet. Taken a couple dozen deer with this using a Hornady SST and a NBT 125G. Couple with a Sierra 125 HP FP bullet and couple more with a Speer 130 FPSP bullet. Two years ago I got some of the Barnes blk tips in 110 that where designed for the blk and shot two deer last year with them. I like the 125's better.

I have been trying to work up a loading using the 160 FTX Bullet. It could be a real good bullet for close range use. I wanna use 1680 as it shoots very good, but the stuff is causing issues with compression.. It dosent compress. 4227 is on the table now and its working well, but I cannot break 2K as I did with 1680. Now, I may not "NEED TO" but would like to see the energy closer to 1500.

I really like the Controlled CAOS bullet for defensive use. I have taken two coyotes with it and it can be devastating. I have black outs with 13 & 16.5" Barrels.

MP300 is another good powder and if you go more then 125 G 4227 and 1680 work REAL well!

    Good luck,
    CW

Here are some of my results from a 7 1/2" 1:7" twist barrel.

    Lee c309-160-R (166gr actual) powder coated, 18.5gr of AA2230, OAL 1.940", MV 1315fps. 480 ftlbs @ 100 yards.

    Remington PSPCL 150gr, 19.0gr of AA1680, OAL 2.220", MV 1483fps. 578 ftlbs @ 100 yards.

    Sierra HP #2124 135gr, 20.0gr of AA1680, OAL 2.080", MV 1533fps. 528 ftlbs @ 100 yards.

Nosler RN #30181 220gr, 12.0gr of AA1680, OAL 2.095", MV 1116fps. 543 ftlbs @ 100 yards. This bullet has a slight fishtail but not a full blown keyhole. This load will not cycle in my 7 1/2" barrel.

Maybe these loads will help with some of your expectations as far as to velocity loss.

By the way, replace the muzzle device with something linear or the like.
Even if it is only one of these. https://blackmooseqed.com/products/5...=8945156882495
At least it will throw the muzzle blast a little forward.

110gr Zmax with max load of 296 makes all my 300 BLK firearms happy.

I like the Nosler 125gr BTs also, moving around 2100fps. I usually use H110 since it's readily available and works well in my magnum handgun loads also.
This load is pretty strong deer and manbearpig medicine. Also, solid data out there from Nosler. For free, online.

Thanks for that link, I have been looking that exact item recently. I just wish my 125 Blackout bullets ran as well as some of you here both the Nosler BT and Speer TNT. With Nosler BT, 16.5gr H110 @ 2100fps I get extractor damage on the brass and 2200fps they blow primers. Im still dropping the powder charge as I have a lot of these bullets and want them to work. I have yet to find a seating depth or powder charge for the Speer #1986 bullet.

    Carbine and 10" 1:8 pistol. 110vmax, 125sst, 150spp, 142gr PB cast - all above 2k fps (carbine), H110, 1680, cfeblk. I use the 1680 & cfe for 170 & 180 cast supers. Put a holo sight on the pistol so I won't loose the hog next time.
    Whatever!

You may want to check your seating depth then. I run over 17gr of H110 with no issue, and according to Nosler, 18gr is the max. What's your COAL with the 125gr BT?

As far as a muzzle device goes, you can't go wrong with the KAK blast can or the Midwest Industries blast diverter. I use the MI one and love it. Really helps on an 8.5" barrel. https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com...p/mi-30pbd.htm

I took advantage of Mid-South's offer for free hazmat when you buy four lbs. of Shooters World / Lovex powders. I picked a sampler of four different types and I'm impressed with the powder appropriately called "Blackout" Give the Lovex powders a try and post your results. 17 to 18gr. of this powder under a Speer 125gr. Hp is one of my guns favorite. Gp

I like several boolits in the 300AAC BO, we have a couple of uppers (one SBR) and an encore pistol (7.5" threaded for our suppressor). 155gr Lee 312 over 15.3gr of w296/H110 is my favorite supersonic load. I have a couple of heavy weight molds, 235gr and 245gr are my favorite and I run them over just enough AA1680 or RL-7 to hit around 1050fps.
