    56-56 spencer

Has anyone have first hand experience of using shortened 50-70 brass in a 56-56? Does one have to outside turn the base or anything like that? I'm aware that the inside should be reamed. I'm trying to decide on wether I should purchase the 50-70brass or the starline 56-50 brass. Thanks

I rebarreled my 1860 carbine and made it a 56-50 thinking I could use the modern cases but the rims were too small. I just cut the Star Line 50-70 cases to length and load them, they work fine.
BIG OR SMALL I LIKE THEM ALL, 577 TO 22 HORNET.

I have a drop in cf block installed and new mag tube.
Thanks for the info regarding the starline. I think I will go with the 50-70. The bullet will be an issue I suspect as it should be heeled.

Check with Bernie at Old West Bullet Molds - he may have something for you.
