I had a 514 that turned brown on its own, cleaned up the stock and did a linseed oil finish. It looked nice enough that someone talked me out of it.
Your last post reminded me that I need to put a set of swivels on my 510 also.
Looks good, nice to bring one back.
The sling will help when carrying a turkey or a brace of squirrels; not to mention the shooting aid aspect.

I like the 500 series too. Had a 510 that I gave to a friend, have a pair of 521-Ts but by real weakness is the 552. I have 4 of those now. One scoped, one with a receiver sight and two as issued.. (-:}
Just restored mine. It really shoots amazingly well with Federal lr.
Used a little better piece of wood to make a stock in those days.
Redo looks great.

Ok since we are on the topic of Rem 500 series dose anybody know were I can find a scope mount for a 511 score master I know dad had one for his at one time it mounts on the left side of the receiver
I refinished it a number of years ago but I have not been able to put my hands on one

As fair as I know the scope mounts that fit to the left side of the receiver are for scopes less than 1" diameter. The receiver will need to be drilled and tapped. I would drill the top of the receiver for weaver bases and use rings for a 1" scope. Your choices are unlimited for 1" scope but really limited for the smaller scopes.
