    Mold handles

I found a Lyman mold I like and wondered if Noe mold handles will fit on Lyman mold. Would save me some money.

Only lyman mold I have is a 4 cavity and it had to be thinned down to work. Looks like the 1 and 2 cavity molds will work un-modified/

there are 3 different (or more?) types of Lyman handles.

I think NOE (or Lee, which are same dimensions) will fit newer Lyman 2 cavity molds.

I have Lee handles that fit several single and double-cavity Lyman molds that date to the 60's and 70's. One is very slightly tight, but I don't believe it would be much of a job to file a decent fit.

This is a 2 cavity Lyman I'm looking at but don't want to file my Noe handles.

Then buy a pair of Lee handles. They will fit all the LYMAN 2cav molds I've tried them on.

Don't buy a set of old style LYMAN handles. You won't like them after casting with the straight style type handles.

I've decided I want the Noe mold instead so my handles from Al will work.

Good advice right there. The Lee 6 cavity handles are a steal compared to others.

Thinning or altering the holes on the lee handles will prolly end up with them breaking at the worst time, Lyman has thinned STEEL handles for their 4 cav. molds and slightly thicker ones for the 2 cavities. The Lee handles are made of "pot" metal and can break easily.

That actually makes 5 different handles for LYMAN molds.
Single cavity handles for the old SMALL BLOCK Molds. Neither is no longer made.
Double Cavity handles for 2cavity mold blocks or modern made single cavity molds. There are the old style handles and larger new style handles.
Old style 4cavity "Nutcracker" handles. These hinge in front of the mold. You have to swing the handles quite aways apart to dumb the bullets.
    Finally,
New Style 4cavity handles, these hinge in the back like all other mold handles. These will work with 2cav LYMAN mold blocks, only if GREAT CARE IS TAKEN when closing the block because the handles are a bit under sized in the attachment area.
