    My very first Pewter Score!!

Last week I can into about 300lbs of sheet lead that was removed from a local Hospital... cost was great... FREE just get it out of here. I load 45 acp and 38spl and use mostly WW as is... Seem this sheet lead is to soft and I need to mix it. I made my first Pewter run today and scored... about 1lb for $4 total including a cast iron ingot mold... $3 for the Pewter.

My forever 45acp alloy is 50% COWW/ 50% Pb + 1% pewter. Works great in my pistols.

Sweet. I've been mixing my flooring lead that has a BH of 5 at a 16:1 ratio with pewter. It tests out a 7.5 BH set and done. Shoots sub MOA PC and GC at 1675fps out of my 77/44. I also cut the The flooring PB at a 50/50 or 80/20 ratio with coww and little pewter to boot.

This is also my just about go to everything alloy for both handguns and rifles. For some of my rifles I add some linotype to this alloy. I use either pewter or other tin I may already have when doing the mixing. Nice find on both lead and the pewter.Robert

Nice Score on the pewter. I envy you guys that can find it. I recently went around to 8 stores and scored 1 small bowl for 50 cents. I did find a few fancy pieces but they were asking antique prices! I would not have melted those anyway. I was also looking for a stainless steel stock pot of about 8 or 10 quarts and any cast iron corn bread, muffin or mini loaf pans. Nothing, nada, theres just not much pewter around here. I do find solder occasionally.

I was able to find a couple of pieces of pewter for a good price but a couple of weeks ago I saw a pewter tankard and they wanted way too much for it. I find a piece here and there but
not a whole lot but enough to add to the stash.

Keep looking. I've had a dry spell, but recently picked up a 1.2 lb mug for a dollar.

Like the cast iron mold. I have one just like it and use it to make my pewter ingots. Most ingots come out at 6 oz
