    BPI Slug Manual

Does the slug manual from BPI have data for the Lee 1oz. Key Drive slug? I have my data from Lee's site, but they only offer up a few powders to choose from.

Just curious because I see folks listing powders they use with the Key Drive slug that are not on the little sheet from Lee. I have been using HS6 for all my buck and slug loads, but I am running low-ish on it and have a bunch of other powders to use - just need the data.

Any help or info would be appreciated.

No it does not. Most guys use 1 ounce shot load data. The Hodgdon website is a good source.

Brilliant! I feel dumb for not putting 2 and 2 together. DUH!!!

I load shot loads with different powders so this will work out nicely.

Greetings, the loading data from Lee too is way too Hot and loosen your dentures, watch out:

Most shooters stop around 32 or 33 gr of HS-6

I do run my slugs according to Lee's data with 36gr. of HS6. It is a stout load.

The 36gr. Herco load will not allow the crimp to fold over and start, so I know it was pretty heavy to begin with. I have thought to drop the powder charge down with the Herco by at least a few grains.

I also may try the HS6 load reduced as well. They shoot very well, but they let you know when you pull that trigger.

Here's some specific data from BPI with other powders and wads: https://www.ballisticproducts.com/load14_04_25.htm and https://www.ballisticproducts.com/load14_06_13.htm
However, I would second what megasupermagnum said, you can use shot data safely. I especially like "International" load data, which give you 1345 fps loads for 24 gram (7/8 oz) or 28 gram (1 oz) payloads, with common fast-burning powders, usually at relatively low pressures. These make nice low-recoil slug loads.

My only complaint is that most of the data is only for components that they sell.

7th? I swear I bought mine only 2 or 3 years ago, and it's the 4th edition. Are you sure that data isn't for those crappy generic foster slugs they sell?

Edit: I must have been away for longer than I thought. I don't see a 7th edition, but they are selling a 6th. On top of that, anyone check out these "value slugs"? Those rifled slugs aren't the best deal in the world, but they are selling a 300 grain bullet and sabot combo for less than anything else they have. Looks like a Federal trophy copper to me. I'll be ordering 2 packs (100 slugs) tonight.
