I spotted one for sale, has anyone heard of this mold? what was it designed for? I'm thinking of using it for .45 Colt BP maybe smokeless its not listed on their catalogue.

According to an old Rapine line drawing sheet I have, that exact number is not listed. The only hollow base in that caliber is a 454155 which is listed as a 45 Colt and also a 454253. Both are what I would call a round/flat.
He was very lose with his numbering system but was close. ie... 454 as cast, weighing 155 grains as the latter example. He very well could have made a 200 grain and not cataloged it. They are pretty good molds if not abused. the hollow base system he used is super simple and works pretty good. If you buy it you will have to tilt the mold when you start your pour or you'll get an air hole at the tip of the base pin.
Hope the info is helpful
