    Lee alignment pin adjustment suggestions

New Mould and I can see a line of light when mated with no pressure. I can see the shadows of both pins. When I apply pressure to top or bottom of mated halves, I can feel it rock on the pins, but can’t see movement other than the change in the light line down the seam. Both faces are flat side to side, both on top and bottom. I can’t tell about the top to bottom at the ends and between the cavities, old eyes and too short of a spread for me to be certain.

What’s your recommendation to slightly set the pins or seats back a smidge?
    Vice? Punch? Hot or cold?

    Thank You!
    Bevan

I suggest you get the mold very hot,and then tap the blocks together......the rule for any steel insertion in ally is to never move anything cold,or you will ream the ally, and the steel will be loose when hot.......this rule is very important when installing bearings in alloy housings.........The usual problem with Lee molds is the pins coming loose at casting temp, and falling out.................Its also quite likely that an invisible smear of lead has deposited on the face.........never try to remove cold, but brush off at casting temp....Lee molds are very easily damaged.
