    powder coating in ported barrel?

A friend has a Dan Wesson .44 mag with a ported barrel. He can't shoot boolits because they will shave in the ports. Will powder coated work? Hope this is in the right spot, thanks in advance.

it is my understanding that it can be done but it is very hard to do. ports and silencers don't play well with anything other than jacketed.
if you are ever being chased by a taxidermist, don't play dead

Says who? No problems in my silencer. Worst case scenario with powder coated bullets in the Dan Wesson is that you have to spend a couple minutes cleaning out the ports. Using powder coated bullets in a Desert Eagle with an internal gas system might be a problem if the lead starts shaving.

I have been running them in a ported witness .40, ports stay cleaner than with conventional bullets. That said, never going in my DE 41 mag! Also work very well in round ported revolvers.

I have a Magna ported 7 1/2 inch Redhalk that I've shot cast bullets in for years.

Last couple of years it's had my home cast powder coated 300 gr bullets shot through it.

    No issues I'm aware of.

I shoot the PC bullets at full velocity with H-110.

I’ve shot PC 9mm 124gr Boolits from casting machine through my ported PC shield without any issues. I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to run them through the DW.. I also had an XD-V-10 in 40 well over a decade ago. Shot lead through it. Any lead inside the slide and barrel removed easily with a lead remover cloth, but I got rid of it because of the horrendous muzzle blast.

I shoot nothing but PC through the suppressor for my AR9. Every 500-1,000 rounds it goes in the sonic cleaner at the gunsmith. I just checked it. No build up.

If he gets bad accuracy and signs of lead then gas check the boolits, the base should be the only real concern.

Like the others have posted, I shoot cast PC bullets out of my two Glocks
    ( A 19C & 23C ) and never a problem.
