Please help - ID .22LR bolt???

Hi,
I have this bolt for a .22 LR that came with some other stuff. Can anyone ID what it goes to? Seems like a quality piece. Not the Winchester, Remington, Ruger stuff I am familiar with. Looks European to me. Note the swept back handle and the funny piece on the rear of the bolt. There is a number electro-penciled on one locking lug, over a faint two that was stamped. Seems to be in good condition. Any help much appreciated.

I'm thinking marlin, maybe a model 81 if it was European it will have proof marks on it.

I don't think the 81 has the locking lug opposite the bolt handle lug.
The rear should be a dead give-a-way for those that do know.

I found a Youtube on the Marlin 81 and it is a different arrangement. I don't see any proof marks but it still looks European to me.

It could possibly be for a Remington 37. They have a swept back bolt handle and the lug on the other side of the handle is common on the older Remington 500 series. It's been so long since I've seen a 37 I don't remember what the cocking piece looks like.

I had a Mossberg with a western field stamp on it that looked a lot like that .

1Hawkeye - BINGO - I think you nailed it. Remington Model 37. Thank You! I have looked at a bunch of pictures on the 'net and I think you hit the nail on the head. I don't think I have ever SEEN a Remington Model 37. Your help much appreciated.

Agreed it's a REM 37 bolt.

A well cared for 37 will still shoot with the best of what today has to offer with the possible exception of the extremely tricked out Olympic guns. Winchester had the reputation so they were much more popular but all things being equal, a 37 will outshoot a 52. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Yeah, I own one and it shoots way better than I can hold. Unfortunately, I can't afford a classic scope, Unertl, Lyman, or such, (I won't desecrate a classic like that with a "modern" piece of glass ) so I'm stuck with Redfield Olympic sights which my aging eyes don't do very well with. However, from the bench I can still score a possible on the NRA 50 ft. target with better than half the shots being pinwheels. Ya gotta love it.

I think it is a Rem. 37 bolt also. I own a 37 and a Win. 52B. I can not get the Win. to shoot with Rem. 37. I have not tried many types of ammo but the 37 usually comes out on top.
