Was in a gunshop last week and picked up ac7mm/08 Handi rifle with sling, and s 2x7 Redfield scope on it, for $160 out the door. Today I went by another small lgs that had a Buffalo classic in 45/70 on the shelf for 4 months, with no sights and a cheape scope on it. I knew the owner wanted to move it, so I bought in the 7mm/08 and asked how he would trade. He thought for a moment and said $50! I nearly broke his arm putting the money in his hand. I hit footed it home and removed the scope and base. I had a original rear peep sight and front sight that a. Customer had me take off a buffalo classic 10 years ago, he had me cut the barrel back to 26”, recrown it, and cut the stock off an inch and put a limb saver pad on it. When I asked him what he was going to do with the sights and butt plate he said I could have them! I had the rear sights pub on in a few minutes, and instead of putting on the Lyman sight for the front, I put on a globe ft with a small Brass bead. I thought it would shoot high, and I was right, it shot about 4” high with a center hold at 100 yds, but if I put the bead on the bottom of the peep arpeture, it was only about 1& 1/2 inches high! I have been on a roll lately and bought/ traded for 4 nice 45/70’s in the last 5 months. Where will this addiction lead me? Lol!
