10mm Heavy weight cast.

I have been wanting to test heavy for caliber cast bullets in 10mm, I had no luck finding what I wanted commercially so I drew up a bullet and had Tom @ accurate molds cut a 5 cavity mold and as usual he did a fantastic job and I received it in less then a week.
The bullet I drew up is 40-240D.
It is designed to fit within the 10mm max length of 1.26" and should cycle thru semi automatic guns (I have made up a couple of dummies and hand cycled thru my 10mm Kriss without issues.) I will be testing my G20 and my AR15 DI 10mm as well.


I will be testing both subsonic as well as seeing what the top velocity is in both handguns and my PCC guns. It should be a fun project.

Tom's designator is the weight in requested alloy, so 40-240 is nominally 240 grains.

For those with 10mm REVOLVERS, these are what I use in my Ruger and also in its .40 S&W cylinder:

That's "salada" bullet in a 10!

I have tired 220's and prefer the 200. It has the mass. Meets hunting legalities of 1000-40-200 and allows for some velocity too!

No, I forgot to add the weight which is 240gr and I verified 10 or so of them and they ran 239.3gr to 239.8gr with my lead.

This is really interesting. I will be following this. Can't wait for a report! Love me some 10mm, although the heaviest I've gone is about 209 gr.


What powder will you use? Might be enough room to get some Accurate no. 9 in there. The nice thing about A9 is that it would be tough to get enough in there to break anything.

Not sure yet, got to run it thru quickload and see what looks best for both subsonic and supersonic. I hope to get a batch hi-tek coated this weekend and start loading.

Agree, I played with 220gr & at least in a stock G20 bbl, I see no real advantage to 20gr more weight. Just more recoil & for me, accuracy was not as good as 200gr.
