WTB 158 grain (or heavier) WFN/RFN/LFN COWW boolits for my 77/357...

... because SWCs just won't group. I figure I need 0.358" diameter at least because the groove diameter is 0.3575". The beginning of the throat is 0.3615" just ahead of the case mouth, so 0.360" probably would not be too large (?) and I can always size downwards.

If anyone has been down this road already with a 77/357, I'll be happy to try/start with whatever has worked well in yours. I'm planning on buying an NOE mold when I find a pattern/style that shoots well.

    Thanks!

Edited to add: I've got 200 - 300 water dropped Lee C-158-SWCs that measure 0.3575" diameter if anyone should wish to trade; they won't work for me.

I cast NOE 360180 WFNGC buy the time they are sized, lubed, and gas checked they are about 185gr. Also SAECO 35 FNPB finished at about 185gr.
    Thanks

I've had best luck with 200gr 360-200-LFN and a 360-220-FN I commissioned from Veral Smith of LBT. The NOE 360-180-WFN doesn't do well in my 77/357 with the loads I've developed so far. My 77/357 really prefers the 200gr+ boolits.
I have a 140y range in our back acreage, I shoot those heavies at a 4" gong and connect every time if I do my part.

I will add that the factory trigger on my 77/357 was very heavy. I changed out the sear and it's around 1.5-2# now, almost too light. I also shimmed the bolt, that was huge improvement for accuracy along with the trigger.

I find myself going to the 77/357 more than any other rifle, if nothing else than it's cheap and very versatile with powder puff .38spl loads to handling the 'Freedom Arms only' 200 and 220gr loads. I do have to single load the 220gr FN and they won't eject, so they go in the chamber, they get shot out.

I have an old LBT WFN 200 grain and a small handful of 215 grain swc that I have no source for that work great. The LBT moulds are worth every penny, if you can find one.

I have some of the 360-200-LFN/GC cast, lubed and sized to .358. Lubed with LBT Blue or Soft Blue. Let me know if you want to try some. I primarily use Alloant 300-MP for these loads.

Forgot to mention the RCBS 180 mould is an awesome performer as well. I might have a few extra, will check this weekend if you would like.

Thank you all. I just reread my post and see I said "158 grains (or heavier)". Oops. I shouldn't have said "or heavier" because the only powder I have for heavier bullets is WW296 and have no local source for Alliant.
