Thank you KTW. There are a couple of molds for sale on the CBA site and I wasn't familiar with Modern- Bond.

You might want to remove the BRP link since it doesn't work and Bruce is no longer producing molds (that's the last I've read anyway).

Lee references lead to a dead link.

This is the page for 6 cavity molds, but it has pictures of all cartridge molds

This is the launch page for the black powder molds (conical, minie, REAL and ball)

I really like the Mihek molds and am thinking about doing an order although they list almost everything out of stock.

Sigh: I learned some of this the hard way but never recorded it for myself, let alone for others. Thanks for a useful thread.

The links to Lee in post 20 & 25 are not valid.
But it'll get you to Lee's site.

Not sure how long these will be valid, but they work today.

    Hi,
CBE has changed hands and has a new website.
    http://www.castbulletengineering.com.au/
David, the new owner is very helpful and has been shooting and casting projectiles for many years. His molds are top shelf.

I am a newbie at all of this. Years ago I was told to plan with the end in mind. I also know buying quality pays. Before I buy smelting equipment and a mold or two I am reading and reading to figure out how to put this all together on a rather severe budget. The past few days I've considered which Lee and Lyman molds are the ones to fill my needs.

I've settled on ladeling lead from purchased ingots from a soup pot on a hot pot into the mold rather than buying a bottom feed pot which would reduce the purchase price and time thus speed my entry into the casting process.

Since I am planning on casting and reloading for 38 Special and 9mm using round nose and round nose flat point I found the combination of Lee and Lyman molds to do the job. Then tonight I see this list....... woW, wOW, WOW, SO MANY CHOICES. Fantastic list I'm excited to do research on those mold companies to see what is available. Thanks so much.

Ha ha ha ha! I'm afraid it doesn't get easier!. I have been reloading about 12 years and casting maybe 4. I have lots of lead. Almost a ton of lead only wheel weights. JUST when I think I have learned enough to be be fully self reliant, either something new comes along I have to learn (like bullet coating) or just one thread will pop up with information directly in conflict with what I thought I knew!

Getting a late start in life and closing in on 60 I know I dont have a lifetime to learn from experience so I greatly depend on the first hand knowledge of those old timers that have learned that way. There are a handful of men here that even though they do always agree 100% that I can count on what they say.

You are being smart. Start small with what you can afford. Make one or two choices on molds an stick with them. You can always add more later. My very first molds - a .45 & a .312 remain my most used molds by boolit volume. I have added more over time and use them all, but shoot more .45 cast that anything else so that mold gets used. I have a botom pour pot and still ladel pour sometimes.

You got this. Dont make it harder.
