    Storage...

I am sure its been discussed but I did not see it.

Peanut butter sized jars would likely work well for many of my sizes. But would take some time to collect what's needed...

Has any one found a inexpensive secure clear storage container I could just go buy? I need a couple dozen right now and its only going to get worse.

I use 1 quart wide mouth canning jars. I vacuum seal them for long term storage with a seal a meal adapter. You can use pint jars if you use less or half gallon if more.

You didn't mention what you were wanting to store
You could try the dollar tree, they have a large selection of clear containers. If you don't drop them on a hard surface they should hold up.

I eat a lot of planter peanuts in square 2# clear plastic containers. They work well for me

    Storing WHAT????????????

I store powder in Zip-Log freezer bags, but I have VERY low RH here in Arizona.

I store coated and uncoated boolits in the rectangular green lid containers at WalMArt. Very inexpensive and they hold hundreds of boolits and stack well. They do not need to be airtighte, as you have PC’d the boolits. Unless.....you live in a swamp!

I save all my plastic powder containers and put my cast in those after they have been HI-TEK coated, I put fresh cast ones in plastic ice cream containers till they are coated. I prefer plastic as an accident makes it hard playing 200 pick up around broken glass. Regards Stephen

I don't eat as many peanuts as Grmps but I have several nut containers accumulated over the years. I usually end up with 2-3 at Christmas and probably as many more throughout the year. Same with peanut butter jars. I've quit saving the large ones but still save the small peanut butter jars for limited runs. Almost as good as large peanut butter jars are the Miricle Whip jars with wide mouth. I've got a bunch of those too. Sadly, they went back to a narrow mouth.

I restrict my ice cream buckets(≈ one gallon) for brass. Right now I'm waiting for a friend to save some nail/screw buckets for me. They are square, Utilize shelf space better, hold more than the ice cream buckets and are heavy duty.

I found someones stash of plastic folgers coffee containers, red plastic, black plastic lids. Nice assortment of 1,2,3 lb sizes. This became the major part of my brass collection. Yellow labels taped to lids as to what is inside.

For bullets, ask your wife what storage containers she has for food in the kitchen.

I prefer the semi clear with snap on plastic lids. Dollar store, Walmart, whatever you can find cheap.
They stack, can be written on with black sharpie. I put all my lubed ready to load cast into those.

Try telling your wife how many you need, then hold out a 20$ bill tell her to replace them with new ones of her choice.

You'll have more than you know what to do with.

Ask your neighbors with kids. Peanut butter is still a staple in many families despite the bans at schools. The containers can add up fast in a family. Buying them a full jar periodically will help guarantee a supply of jars.

Why rely on an unpredictable supply of old food containers scrounged from your pantry and the neighbors’s garbage/recycle cans when you can buy for VERY LITTLE money those plastic containers at WalMart? And eating all that junk food is not good for you.

I have over 40 of them in the shops to store not only boolits (coated and not) but tons of other stuff. At the very low price, you can afford to buy a LOT of them. And have a bunch of same-size stackable bins for your “stuff”.

You know you're a reloader when your choice of coffee is influenced more by the type of can it comes in than the coffee that is in that can.

For the record, I prefer "Chock full O-nuts" coffee and as an added benefit, it still comes in steel cans.

Most of my loaded handgun ammunition goes into GI ammo cans as bulk ammo. I gave up on 50 round boxes years ago and never looked back. Wished I had done that earlier. Rifle ammo still goes into reused factory boxes but gets labeled with the load. Shotgun shells go back into factory boxes but those are stored in ammo cans.
Components waiting to be loaded go in coffee cans with the info listed on the plastic lid with a black "sharpie". When I need to re-label a lid, a little alcohol on a rag removes the ink and I can write new info on the same lid in a few seconds.

After reloading for decades you end up with some standard loads for each caliber. It's just easier to store those loads in bulk in G.I. ammo cans. There's no need to spend the time to package them up in neat little 50 round cardboard boxes. The steel ammo cans are square sided so they store efficiently. They are tough and re-usable. They are waterproof. They have a nice handle. They are very durable.
If you routinely keep 500+ rounds of any particular load, just get an ammo can. It's a one time purchase and you're done.
The stick on letters & numbers used to label a mailbox (white background with black characters, 1" - 2" tall) make great labels for those ammo cans. You can tell at a glance what is in each can (45 ACP, 38 SWC, 38 WC, etc.).

Most reloaders go through the same progression:

First you re-use factory cardboard ammunition boxes.
Then you start taping those boxes up as they get damaged and worn.
Then you buy the plain white cardboard ammo boxes.
Then you buy the nice little plastic 50 & 100 round ammo boxes
Then you start putting ammo in an assortment of re-purposed containers
Then you swear that you will standardize those containers but you really don't
Then you use G.I. ammo cans
I think the last step is you begin to build custom wooden or metal crates.

I love folgers cans, but I prefer to grind my beans fresh every morning.

Better still would be roasted fresh then ground but that just takes too long before I have had coffee.

I use most of the methods above, coffee cans, peanut butter jars, specially purchased containers. One thing that I don't understand is that everybody mentions labeling the lids. The stored stuff goes in the containers, not in the lids. Label the container. Labeled lids can be swapped between containers and cause confusion. This is especially true for opaque ones. Learned the hard way when I got to the range with a partial can of 45acp bullets instead of a can of 9mm cartridges.

    Thanks guys GREAT IDEAS!!

I too am using FREEZER ZIP-LOC bags, but when I has 3-4 varieties it was fine... Now I have 20+... NOT SO FINE PLUS I'm taxing the strength with the quantities.

I ordered some 8MIL Bags off eBay and these are BETTER!! But still not the best for quantity storage as a clear screw top "bottle" would be.

I plan on hitting the 1$ stores and see what they have I did look in Bed Bath and Beyond when I bought my trays and they only had HI $$ stuff...

YES, LONG TIME reloader and I have many family members saving me pretzel jars esp like the pretzel "barrels" sometime cheese balls also come in these. They are larger than a gallon, maybe by 2 even and cherished for brass!! I also have a few of the quart sized "cube" screw top containers my sister is fond of peanut filled pretzels and supplies me with these. But she is only good for 2-3 a year. Too much sodium in all these things for me to eat myself... My Cardiologist would have a heart attach should I try!!
