Any one have ideas on lubing stop ring boolits? I have received from my deceased brother a fine German rifle in 8.15 x 46r and he used he stop ring boolits.

I would guess pan lubing would be best.
Congratulations! I pan lube mine. Buffalo arms has molds if you need one.

I believe pan lubing would be best however, you don't have to use stop ring bullets in any rifle chambered for the 8.15 X 46R. They're certainly accurate and reek of tradition, which I like very much but, they aren't necessary.

I had some leading with 32-40 boolits so I ordered a stop-ring mold... then I got totally distracted and haven't shot it since.

If you're going to use stop rings in 8.15x46 or 32-40, why not just go ahead and breach seat the bullet, assuming we're talking single shot rifles. I do use a stop ring in my 03A3 (NOE clone of 308403). I tumble lube to keep the ring intact and much easier than pan lubing.
An aside from an ignorant caster; what are the benefits, needs for a "stop ring" on a bullet?
My Anchor is holding fast!
A stop ring allows you load fixed ammunition with a very nearly breach seated condition. The stop ring prevents the bullet from telescoping into the case when chambering the round and seating the bullet well into the throat/barrel for alignment of the bullet. The bullet is left unsized and seated into the case by finger.
Yep! COAL is a no-brainer and neck tension is consistent; there isn't any.

I dip lube with 50-50 bw and vasalene for my heeled 310 cadet bullet and 308403 clone.
I heat the bullet first and use tweezers.
Stand on sheet of baking paper to solidify.
Wipe the base and either seat in case or breach seat.
Works for me.
The heated bullet dries with just the right amount of lube on it.
hope it helps.
No sizing of cases or bullet required.
Got to love it.
And with a powder measure at the shooting bench, you need only one case.
I used to think it was crazy but after trying it, I find it easier than loading at home and creates a pleasant "pace".
Most folks pan lube them. I tumble lube them with a 75:25 mix of Alox and pure mineral spirits.Any one have ideas on lubing stop ring boolits?
Another excellent bullet for breech and can be fixed cartridge seated also is the Accurate Mold clone of Dr Hudson's Ideal 319273 (32-40 tapered bullet) ... http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_...=32-185H-D.png
I've had excellent groups with this bullet out to 300yds in my System Aydt

I do that too.
But use a powder scoop.
And a homemade de-recapper.
I have been abused accused and amused at some of the rubbish people carry on with.
I find it settles my pace and the gun doesn’t get hot.
Gives me a break from shot to shot.
In fact I find it a relaxing and enjoyable way to shoot.
I can still rattle off quite a few rounds by the end of the day.
Clean my one case and put it away.
A couple of patches and the guns done.
Of course I tend to have lots of stuff I don’t need often in my possibles bag.

Well I didn’t realise that.
Must be in a jovial mood.
Which is good ‘cos I started off
Abit p’ed Off and crude.
Breech seating should provide equal or better accuracy in my experience.
Hi,
I’m in the same boat as the thread starter, I have a fine Hanel original Aydt and got the stop ring mould from BACO. Pan lubing will certainly fill out the two bottom grooves, but not the top (forward of the stop ring). Are the two lower grease grooves enough? I’ve shot one of these with 13.7gr 4759 behind a 32/40 boolit and figure that is where I’ll start with this one.
Thanks,
Gregg
