    Powder coating and black powder

A friend of my bought some lead boolits at a cowboy match from a shooting buddy of his. They were pwder coated with black coat of unknown brand.

Anyway, after just a few cylinders the gun was gunked up bad. When he got home he had to apply some serious elbow greas to get the barrel clean of the pc. He told me that it was not lead but coating that came out. Before he has used naked lead boolits with conventional bp grase with great result.

Anyone with experience with black powder and powder coating? Does it burn too hot? What could cause this?

Call his buddy and get details -- return for refund.
What was the diameter of the "new" boolits in relation to his barrel?
the black may not have been powder coating, it could have been another type of lube.
IF it is powder coating try baking it again in an oven not used for food at 400° for 20 min then smash a couple and see if they flake. If so, toss them in the smelting pot and move on
