The Angle Leading Into The Rifling

In shooting paper patched have you developed a preference on the angle leading into the rifling?

Well, I have a few rifles with throats that have worn into a taper that allows for the full support of the exposed section of the boolit in the taper. I'm talking fairly long boolits. One of those rifles shot very well even though the muzzle end of the barrel looked worn. Actually, the whole bore is worn but the end section looks more worn.

An advantage of such a worn throat is that the boolit takes on a simple taper (with only the seating section being parallel which can be ignored) which makes for a simple taper patch design with associated ease of rolling on the patch.

Starting out with the chamber having the extremely shallow angle is what's on my mind.
Buying a reamer and a new barrel, well, may as well do it up right.

I have learned through trial and error that a modern target type chamber with a section of parallel (free bore) going into a 1.5 degree/side leade works as well as anything and better than most. Of course there are always exceptions. The 30-30 has got to have one of the worst designed chambers of anything yet they usually shoot PP ammo quite well.
