Need suggestions for lace on cheek pad for 99 Savage

Mounted a scope on a Savage 99 but now need to have a higher comb area. Any suggestions on what type or brand lace on pad might work.

You could always make your own. It's not a hard project, and comes with plenty of satisfaction.

Contact member Springfield. He made one for me that I really like.

I have one of the old MRT Garand lace on and fixed in two places with brass screws. And a Pedersoli Sharpe 1874 Infantry rifle. I heard that the nylon ones are not traditional so theywere banned. Something being mentioned as being all leather construction which the old Garand MRT cheek pad would be closer to what they want in maintaning a period look, plus the Garand pad would most likely work. I don't know how I would feel about using the two brass anchoring screws in a Sharps stock. Maybe using double sided tape or velcro. Frank

I've used the MRT risers on a couple of rifles. If your worried about it moving around, cut a chunk of innertube and give it a good wash. I cut them small enough not to be seen under and lay it over the comb before I lace up the cuff. Stuck mine hard right where it needs to be and comes off easy when I unlace other the cuff

Never thought to put lace on a cheek rest but SoFro Fabrics has it. They have the purtiest kinds. Not sure how long it will last in the woods or what appreciative comments you'll get at the range, but hey. . . . .

How much more did it raise the comb. I proabably need a good 3/4 inch.

Already as low as I can go. Savage 99's just have a lot of drop to their stocks

Savage had some models with Monte Carlo buttstocks late in the production. You might be able to find one of those from Gun Parts Corporation.

Thought of that, but hate to remove the original stock.

After using the web, decided on a ITC Bitter Creek Pad. Hope I made a wise choice.

Good for you. Hope it doesn't use screws. Reminds me of my hunting partners old 12 guage pump shotgun. Lost a screw behind the trigger guard and in it's place was a common stove bolt and nut. Sure looked out of place and ugly. He has been killing turkeys and other stuff for many years and still won't change the bolt.

No Screws! It is a lace on or rather uses straps to hold it in place.
