Ohaus reloading ballance- OLD, first I've seen

One of my employees who is 69 years old brought this to me. It was HIS father's reloading scale. Lives inside a finger jointed carrying case with a "genuine mahogany" sticker. Has a built in bubble level, 3 leveling feet, and is quite pretty.

As far as I can tell, it is all there and functional, except for whatever check weights might have come with it from Ohaus? I leveled and zeroed it, then checked it with 100, 1, 5 and .5 grains weights. It seems to be fine, better than my dial-O-grain, actually.

A little corrosion on the scale pan (heavy nickel plated brass) is all I can find, plus dear old dad scratched a "project ID" number onto the exterior of the case cover and the scale itself.

My guy doesn't reload. Asked what It's worth?

I have no idea! It is certainly older than I am.

And the photos won't upload. Drat.

Most of the tanks are gone and the windows don't rattle anymore. I won't be able to sleep now.

Ohaus made 2 Travel scales Both Grain scales. Model 314 and model 315. Both were considered travel because of the case.
Ohaus also made the same 314 as a lab scale. both are very accurate with no magnets.
    i do have both

Yes, that is it. The nice wood cased version.

Same guy who brought me this also sold me one of dad's milsurps- A type 99 Arisaka with a "duffle cut" stock. Ground mum. But otherwise it is perfect, no AA sight ears, but has a Chrome lined bore which probably never saw anything past the proof rounds. Serial # says it was late 1943 production. ACCURATE. rather more so than my Garand, a bit better than my '03 Springfield (the rear diopter sight makes a world of difference). Someday I want to put a minty iron sighted 03A3 with a decent trigger up against it and see which shoots tighter.

His dad was at least an advanced shade tree "gunsmite", back in the day no one thought twice about carving up an '03 or K98. He had quite stash of pre GCA 1968 rifle purchases- The higher end Star pistols and several Lugers too.

The stories about what happened to his several TONS of reloading supplies and equipment would make you cry. No one wanted the pallet load of projectiles qnd brass- So it was used as fill in a farm ditch. The dies and presses were given away to Good Will. Old buddies "helped the widow to get rid of all that worthless junk" & etc.
