If I'm not mistaken, jonp is from North Carolina and the state motto is "If it's free, I want it". The owner probably lowered the flag for him.

About a month ago I was going into Wally world with a shopping list from the wife. I looked up and saw the flag had broken loose at the top. I went to the customer help desk and started telling the lady about the flag. As soon as I said flag the lady was on the phone to the manager. When I left with my few items a new flag was flying. This is a very patriotic town.
I have come to believe honey bees are more important to this world than I am.
If you've ever driven East on I40 into Hickory NC, You've been impressed for several miles by the gigantic flag dead center of the bend in the road. It's a private co that is making a statement of community pride.
