    new hand cannon

went to range the other day to try out my new hand cannon. charter arms 41 mag pug. i know 41 mag ain't the biggest thing out there but in a 23 oz snub nose it sure felt like a cannon. i can pretty much shoot my 44 black hawk all day but after 2 boxes noticed had large blister in palm of my hand. since i quit working hands aren't as tough as used to be. gun workred like a charm no problem keeping in about 6 inch circle at 25 yards off hand.sure gun would do better me not so much. but this is good enough for me to carry.

Time for cast boolits going around 700 fps.
Have fun, save the kickers for carry.

i actually like to practice with the ammo i intend to carry. put a new set of pachmayrs on it and am going to give it another go. as i said it's only 23 ounces makes a good carry gun but it is not for the timid.

The 41is hardly a shrinking violet in terms of power, and shooting it in a 23 ounce revolver certainly is not going to prompt me to call you a pantywaist for noticing it kicks a bunch.

I bet it does. By anybody’s reckoning.

.35 rem, it can't be much worse than a 105 gr. swc. over 3.1gr.# 231 in my elsiepea, ( in the old model,& the Custom) Fivefang,

Yes, it will be much worse. I have an LCP, and I have shot 245 grain 850 fps loads through a 21 ounce Charter Bulldog, which is snappy and somewhat unpleasant. The 41 is way more power and recoil than that, with a 210 grain approximating 1150-1200 fps from a short barreled gun only two ounces heavier.

    Whole different ballpark.

The .41 isn't a .44 but's no slouch. Case length is within .005", SAAMI pressure is the same, bullet diameter is only ~.019" less.
Warning: I know Judo. If you force me to prove it I'll shoot you.

My Bulldog is a handful with regular .44 Special loads, I imagine a .41 Magnum is painful. They are good little guns, at least mine always has been.

For me shoot my 44mag redhawk with 310grs ,I do not shoot it that much for the way that round is.I mainly use it in my Marlin.

I absolutely agree a nice full wad cutter or Keith at 700-800 loaded over Unique would be a dandy load.

the new pachmires helped a lot the factory grips were just too small. i really like to practice with what i plan to carry. for milder practice i like my 44 spec.

    Groo here
Try this load,,, 215 gr [ about]cast SWC , 41mag case, "HOT" primers [important] 6gr trailboss and a heavy crimp[important again]
Close to the "Police" load and was most accurate in the #5 41mag guns we tried.......

I’ve always been a fan of 6.5-7gr 231 behind any 210-220 lead boolit. Been shooting those since a teen

The issue I have with moderate loads in a CA 44 SPl Bulldog is that the trigger guard abrades the first joint, of my trigger finger, to the point of drawing blood. I find a thin leather glove is an immense help. I also re-contoured the side of trigger guard to soften the rather sharp edge. Sill need to take off some more.............

Great another gun to add to the wish list as a .41 Mag Nut. I still have my old CA 3" Bulldog. Been wanting a lightweight .41 Smith since the 357NG came out but missed out as I was deployed.
