My Great Grandad was a bridge foreman for the RR. His hands were big as ping-pong paddles and tougher than leather. I have several axes and crosscut saws he and a crew used to build and maintain RR bridges in Western NC, Va, and Tenn.

I once borrowed my neighbors twelve gauge so I could stand on a chair and start a hole through my cabin floor for the drain pipe from the sink. I forgot my brace and bit at home. Necessity really is the father of invention!

My dad shot a hole in the ceiling for the stove pipe. Took several shots with a 30-30 and then a hammer to get it out.

When I was 16 and driving muscle cars, I wanted my car to sound like it had a blower, so I took a .22 and shot a hole in one of the radiator fan blades. While it was installed on the car. It put a hole in it but it didn't whistle...

I was brilliantly stupid back then.
