I have never owned a Taurus and have never had much use for cheap handguns. But on another forum, someone posted that a dealer online was selling the Taurus G2c 9mm for $199. The OP then made the fatal error of claiming that the new Taurus was every bit as good as a Glock. Hilarity and hyperbole ensued...
I had a need for a compact 9mm as a trainer for new shooters and a loaner. I had planned on maybe the Berretta APX compact, or a S&W M&P compact, or any other number of good quality pistols in the $400-$500 range.
But $200 for a pistol was tempting.
I read some reviews and watched some videos. It did very well. The main complaint was the long trigger travel and somewhat mushy trigger.
I also read that there was a new CEO that took over and is really trying to step up the quality. I guess the horrible and random issues with Taurus handguns has been addressed.
I'll get it in a week or so and put it through it's paces. I still have a bunch of handloads from my failed attempt to use 9mm for GSSF. If it performs with the low-powered stuff I developed, then it should be a keeper.
