GRRW CA .50cal Hawken Flintlock Accuracy Test

I can not remove the smile off my face!

I enlarged the vent hole to 1/16th" and she is instant! I use 6 grains 4fg as it seemed best. I could hold steady on target and not even flinch.

The rear sight for my eyes is to close, so its a bit fuzzy when aiming at a distant target.

I took 10 shots with me, but only 9 hit paper. The other is still attached to the screw because I forgot one important step.... Powder.

I used 70gr 3fg Goex, .015" Bridgers Best patch and only used spit as a lube. Topped off the load with a home cast .490" round ball.

This rifle is just a blast to shoot! I am going to practice a little more with it tomorrow with my Shoot Out patch lube and start cleaning up anything I can not see in the bore.

    Distance: 50 Yards

Good shooting! Could you detail the rifle some more please. That is my idea of a sweet looking and shooting rifle. How does it fit? Weight, barrel specs, lock, etc., if it is not asking too much? Also I'm a greenhorn, what did you mean by 6gr of 4F, pan charge?

Again, one of the nicest I've seen in awhile!

Great looking rifle. And it seems to love powder and lead.
Young guys should hang out with old guys; old guys know stuff.

    Bob,
I think he is priming the pan of that flintlock with 6 grains of 4f black powder.

And yes, let's hear some more specifics on that good looking rifle gun!

I had my brother out with me today, helping take some pictures. I decided to give him the last shot and videoed him for once. Just one shot, but priceless reaction! This was his first high end muzzleloader experience.
