    .303 British cast bullet accuracy?

Just wondering what kind of 100yd. groups could be expected with a sporting rifle of 7-71/2 lbs. with cast bullets that are the proper fit of throat/bore & velocity not important..only for pure accuracy? Thanks!

I have no problem shooting 10s and Xs on a NRA SR1 target with a NOE 314198 cast GC bullet at 100 yards light loaded with 13.0 grains of LongShot. I have the same results with a like new No4 MK2 and Pattern 1914 using Parker Hale Rear Match sights. A lot will depend on the condition of the rifle barrel.

My Long Branch No4 MK1 Bomber groups 10 rounds into 2 to 2 1/2" at 100 yards using an NOE 314 202 sized to 314 with a gas check on top of 12.1 gr of Unique. It has a 5 land and groove barrel.

I once shot a very impressive group with a five-groove No4 barrelled MLE - 1.15 MOA, seven shots. Not 100yds though. The boolit was a smooth side tapered 220 gr with gas check over 35.5 gr of Varget. They were lubed by dipping the boolit noses in molten waxy-lube after seating. I should try that rifle with cast again. It was always an accurate rifle with 1.25 MOA ten shot groups all day long.

Honestly with a good cast bullet that fits well assuming the bore and crown are in good shape it should shoot as well or slightly better than what it does with a jacketed bullet at that range .

My 303 Rifle is a Winchester P14 fitted with a Parker Hale 5B range sight. Loaded with a 192gn boolit sized to 0.314" and 26.5gns 3031 produced this 100yd group!

    Work in progress.
Seriously proper fit and a good barrel you should get good groups. I get 2moa and on a good day and every once and a while you get ragged little holes, but all the gun powder gods are with you and guiding every boolit to paper. Each 303 is a bit different.
