Exactly as you've stated. If they've become a little cruddy or rusty they can offer a little resistance, but that is the sequence.

With pins, right to left for removal is usually the rule. It's been a while since I took one off, but I'm pretty sure that it's a straight pin and wouldn't really matter. They're in pretty tight, and it's probably best to put the barrel in a padded bench vise and grip the barrel just behind the sight. Otherwise, it becomes a 3-handed job.
