    someone to test ingot hardness for me?

    i could use a favor if someone would be willing to help me.I have some ingots that i need tested after moving them to a different location and losing their identity. its only three muffin sized ingots.I would ship to you and a pm with range of each ingot would tell me which was wheel weights or range scrap. anyone willing to help me out?

    Barnabus, Wheel weights usually have a ring to them when you drop on concrete floor being 10-12,15 bnh.
    Range scrap being softer has a dull thunk sound.
    Also a scratch with finger nail or other should show soft range scrap easily being 5-8 bnh.

    You might post What state or town are you in or near might help you find a local answer.
    Scrap yards also can test your lead.
    BNE will give you a lead analysis using an X-ray gun if you send him an ingot.

    If ll you need is to sort them by relative hardness, put them in a vice facing each other with a small ball bearing between them squeeze a little then look at the indentations. The one with the larger indentation is softer.
