I just cast bullets in C312-185 lee my velocity im guessing 1500 Can I get buy with out a gas check .They are cast from week weights and 12" PC of solder then cold dropped in water?

I would be shooting from the hip if i answered that. Its more peak pressure based. The base of the bullet needs to with stand the pressure. Some where in the 28k +/- a a few k. Gas check can protect the base from being deformed. That number is a ball park and not hard set. I always gas check if a bullet is ment for it. Try it and see what happens then report back.

Morning all, I’ve never shot un checked boolits, many guys have. I would think the “Fit” of the unchecked boolit would play a bigger role than hardness. If gas gets by the bands you will know soon enough.
I would load up a few and give them a try. If the accuracy is good and no or little leading then your ok.
I use alunium checks on mine and fire in a Marlin 30-30.
There are several vendors on here that sell Cu/ alum checks.

I know that PC'd boolits of proper diameter and alloy shoot fine up to around 1800 fps.

The only way to really know is to Try what you have and see what your barrel and target tells you.
