I dont cleen my cage traps this one trap is near my chook coops it had not been baited for over 2 weeks but still there it was a cat in the trap when i went out to let out the chooks. So the sent must be still very strong to bring a cat in. Any one else had this.

All the cats around here are college educated.

The ones that know all about traps tell the others.
In school: We learn lessons, and are given tests.
In life: We are given tests, and learn lessons.

OK People. Enough of this idle chit-chat.

No bait in trap but got a cat

" I don't clean my cage traps, this one trap near my chicken coop had not been baited for over 2 weeks. When i went to let out the chickens there was a cat in the trap. The scent must still be very strong to bring a cat in, any one else had this? "

I'd guess it's probably a combination of enough scent for an inquisitive cat to want to poke around while they may not be as skittish as other "wild" animals. I've only use traps once or twice as odds are you'll catch a skunk before you catch what your looking for. We don't have feral cats here either, if you catch one it's going to live withing 500ft of here & have a collar. Jay

I once caught a raccoon in a live trap that
Had set, unbaited, for about two weeks.

I also use sardines but chuck the juce up the side of a tree next to the trap then the fish go in the trap.
