Small score, 3 gallon bucket of wheel weights

Lot of zinc an iron in this batch but I gathered close to a pound of stick ons just from the top! Need to sort and see what I get... local tire guy needed some work done on his shop radio so I barter! Fixed an antenna connection in 15 minutes, bucket of weights!

Nice score;to bad about the zinc. I get most my gear and swag through hater as well. It’s a deficit neutral system and a handy skill to be sharpe on.

Nice score. I used to do a lot of barter, I have thousands dollars worth of dental work done all bartered. I used to do auto body work and still have all the tools and most of the equipment except for the frame machine and spray booth, just didn't have room for them.

3 gallons for 15 minutes of work sounds like a good score! Hope you get a good yield from it. It may become a regular source for you.

It is my regular source here in town. Small shop, mostly farm semi truck tires and a few car and pickup tires... guy I get them from can't drink beer or eat pizza so I got hi a Walmart gift certificate at Christmas. Usually pay $10 for 5 gallon bucket full.

    That's a great score.
I just picked up my first batch of WWs from the local big name tire store. I was in there for the rotation, etc and asked for half a bucket of their scrap WW. Well, sorted it all and unfortunately it was mostly steel stick-on, some zinc, and a bit of lead clip and stick. Not a great haul, but, it was free. I have to add to my smelt pile and see what it yields.

The good news is they guy in the shop told me to come back and take more whenever I want. He doesn't drink beer, so I'll have to bring him lunch or something. I like the gift card idea too.

I also just bought a box of COWW from a member here and went though it to sort out the zinc and steel. So, now to make time to smelt it all.
    - Have a good day and a better tomorrow...

    Sorted that bucket today.

    started with ~100 pounds

    15 pounds steel, zinc, trash
    75 pounds COWW
    10 pounds of SOWW

And ran into a new stick on I had never seen, had a BUNCH of steel! All little 1/4 oz in long strips on a fabric type backing...

Sounds like you got a pretty good usable percentage out of that bucket.

Local co-op, they do a ton of farm truck semi tires so many were 2-6 oz COWW. Love those huge weights! Not a lot of waste when smelting them! And a lot of fancy alloy pickup rim tires so a lot of stick on weights.
