500 s&w

I'm having issues loading the 700gr boolits in my 500S&W. The issue appears to be the expander as it doesn't expand deep enough to prevent the seater from mashing the nose of the boolits.

Anyone else loading the 700gr boolits and if so what is your process?

I'm powder coating, checking and sizing to .501 and using the Lee 500 S&W expander, they stop sliding in before they get to the crimp groove. I'm using air cooled WW lead.

did you try a different bell, what dies are you using. I use RCBS and have had no issues with the 502-700 or 502-400. Lee makes a extended expander, not sure if they make it for the 500

I have the Lee dies, the lee 440gr seats just fine. I'll look into an extended expander from lee or get the expander from RCBS, heck I may do both.
