That looks like the old Numrich offering. That became the Sarco offering. I bet the new ones are better. It would be fun to try out!

I handled one last week at the local gun store, fit was pleasantly good, some kind of stained hardwood stock with some heft to it,metal is heavily parkerized, it felt good on the shoulder, sights came right up and were easy to acquire. It was right at $600.00 as I recall.

I doubt it, since 1911 barrel's move during cycling.

I would opine that it should be shot like a 1911 pistol - using the Weaver stance, with both hands around the grip, pulling the stock back into the shoulder.

Sportsmans Guide used to sell the kit which consisted of a long barrel, mainspring housing with attachment, and the stock some years back.

Would that thing still be legal if you took the stock off and or barrel and turned it into a regular 1911? Seems to me if one rreplaced the barrel with anything shorter it would instantly become a SBR since it's a rifle to begin with ?
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

Yes, it would be illegal with a shorter than 16" barrel.

If you bought it as a rifle, it's a short-barreled rifle even with the stock removed. The section "weapon made from a rifle" in the ATF handbook explains this.

If it was a pistol converted by first adding the barrel, then the stock, you can deconvert it back to a pistol if you first removed the stock, then swapped back the barrel. If it has a barrel less than 16" and a stock, it's a short-barreled rifle.

The Mech-Tec conversions make more sense and avoid any NFA nonsense.

So let me understand this you can choose what it is when you buy it and do the paperwork at the FFL? Not that I would want that thing anyways ! I knew the TC contender could be swapped back and forth without fear of jail time ,is it because it's single shot ? And this is an evil Semi auto carbine/ pistol ?

Looked like short sight radius to me. Doubt it shoots significantly better than my Hipoint Carbine in .45acp.

Plus you could just about get 2 Hipoints for the price of one of those. Interesting though.

No, it's based on what it's manufactured as based on the tax paid at manufacture. If it starts as a rifle, it's a rifle. If it starts as a handgun, it can temporarily become a rifle for as long as you like. If it starts as a bare frame, it can be made into a pistol or rifle. The action has no bearing on it, and per ATF if you started with a Contender manufactured as a carbine it would need to remain a rifle. I'm not sure if any were manufactured a safe rifle rather than as a frame.

You don't get to choose at the FFL, the dealer must enter it in the book and transfer as it was manufactured.
