    M1 Carbine bolt sticking

Had a strange thing happen this weekend.
The bolt was sticking to the rear of my M1 carbine.
Never happened before. Owned it for over 10 years.
Broke it down, but didn't see any scraping marks.
Noticed that if I hold the barrel up slightly, With the band/handguard off, the boly would work normally.
Cleaned and scraped the stock below where the op rod moves. It helped.
Didn't have any sandpaper with me, so I'll had to wait until I got it home.
    Any ideas why it's happening????
    Could the stock have warped????
    Maybe swelled????
Never had this happen with other M1 carbines.

You got the retaining band too tight if it won't stay like it should use a drop of red loctite on it so it won't move over tightening usually causes that issue.

    Worked on it tonight.
The stock below the slide, when it was 3/4 way to the rear, was to high.
Not sure why. Stock is not oil soaked. No termites. No cracks. ?????
Sanded it down until it was even with the receiver.
    Problem solver.
