That's a pile of formerly Lawrence Brand magnum shot. It was very dusty shot soi decided to melt it down. It got its revenge.

ooops, never leave a pot unattended . Isn't that what starts most kitchen fires? Should be the same for casting. If I have to step away, I shut the pour off and turn down the heat. Got to many things in my shop that I don't want to have to replace..

Uhmmmm…..been there, done that. Cut off the top couple inches of the cone with a pair of bolt cutters (if you've got bolt cutters); that'll give you clearance to pry the rest off the base and slide it out sideways. Chop the big pieces into smaller chunks that'll fit in your pot and remelt.

It’s a good thing it’s sitting in that old rimmed cookie sheet, good idea. It holds a lot of melt.

Years ago, a stray dog showed up, and live on my front porch, in an old end table. Good dog, too. Kept the pocket gophers under control, excellent mouser. Chased off other dogs, guarded the peaches from the squirrels.
When people came over, and asked if the dog would bite, I said "Only if you turn your back on it."
    And it would, too.

My Lee pot reminds me of that dog.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the advice, and the laughs! I will try the bolt cutter technique.
