    I'll bet Jes put a 1-14" twist in that barrel of yours. That is a good twist for a 35 cal that will pitch boolits as fast as the big Swed will. Good good for cast too.

    According to the Lyman cast bullet manual I have (late 80’s vintage) they wrote that the 338 Win Mag gave very uniform results with all the powders listed, the best of all the cartridges if I recall correctly.

    Oddly that manual does not include the 35 Whelen. I think that one would have come in very high on their list.

    My point is if the 338 Win Mag did that well, the 358 Norma could do even better. Larger bore size on the same case capacity (virtually identical design as well) tends to favor cast.

    Even my fat fingers should be able to paper patch a long 358” bullet, with three ways to treat cast boolits, paper patch, traditional lube or powder coat, there is something for everyone.

    I am taking my 35-338 west this next week, gonna be gone for a month or so, hope to connect with moose, grizz, and blackies with some 285 gr RN PC.
    Don't want no one to git hurt, but if you're gonna have a wreck, I wanna watch.
