PC 223 gas checks not needed?

I've seen a few youtube videos of 223 being cast, powder coated, and shot without gas checks. Recovered bullets from the backstop show the PC is still intact over the whole bullet. It also shows no signs on the tail end of the bullet of the powder melting the bullet at all. The poster of the video claims no barrel leading, decent accuracy, and impressive velocities.

Before I invest in 223 moulds and try this, anyone care to put in their 2 cents?

the only problem most report is having to clean the gas system a little more often than with jacketed.

I went ahead and did this, the GC were not needed, used 17.5 grains of H4198 or 17.5 grains IMR 4198, both seemed equal, depending on who you look up Elvis Ammo and Eagle Eye Shooting are good stuff, youtube them or find them at https://thereloadersnetwork.com

Gas checks will give you a better uniform base. If the base of the unchecked bullets are uniform, you'll probably be able to work up satisfactory groups. The only way you can be sure is to work up a good group and do an A/B test with and without gas checks.
