    .223 55gr lee cast loads

Hello. I was wondering if anyone has cast with the lee .225 55gr RF mold and if so what kind of powder should I be using. I have reloader 7 and imr 4063 and titegroup.

Are any of these good powders to use for this round and if so can someone point me in the direction for a good starting load?

I'm not wanting to break a record by no means. I just want to plunk with this cast round.

    Thanks yall

I use 4 grains of Bulleye w/o gas check for about 1500 fps... It wont cycle the action of my Colt AR-15, so I get to keep my cases. It's acurate and deadly on small game.

Welcome fishbait86. I dont have the lee boolit but Ido have the lymam 225415 55 gr boolit. I have used h335 20 gr with it and it does ok. About 2.5 in at 100 yds in 1 in 12 twist and about the same in 1 in 9 twist AR. AR functions with that load and drops cases at my feet. Lyman 50th edition shows starting load with reloader 7 to be 11.5 grs for 1758 fps / 17000 cup pressure and max at 15.6 grs for 2226 fps / 25300 cup. The 20 grs of H335 chronoed 2778 fps from my 26 in bbl. I used ww and dropped in water from molds, then sized and lubed with thompson blue angel. I am now powder coating and going to the lee boolit in the future. Good luck, be safe and have fun!

I cast, powder coat, and load the NOE 60gr RN for my Mossberg Predator in 5.56. These shoot well in my AR, but won't work the bolt.

8gr of Unique is deadly out to 100 yards, bullet sized .225. AND, these will expand reliably. Just food for thought.
