Bullseye, Unique, 231 and HS6 are the most used but Bullseye and Unique by far the most for handguns. I have lots of other powder that I’ve tried and some I haven’t got to yet.

I shoot when it is in the low 90's and when it is in the high 10's,sometimes even lower than that.30-30,38-55 and 45-70 with cast have shown good performance with 2400 but would print vertical when temp was high or low(mag primer and filler cured that). But Titegroup solved the problem while keeping it simple(no filler plus no mag primer and as a bonus, less powder being used).Ran out and bought a 4 # jug!

Red dot worked good in 44 sp and 40 sw. but I really appreciated it shooting gallery loads in 30-06. All the way down to 4 gr and still accurate.

I have used and liked them all plus some more not listed.
Bullseye, Unique, and 2400 as said earlier would be the trinity for me as well.
I have used all three in pistol, rifle and shotgun.

I've used Blue Dot in 338-06 and it shoots straight and burns clean. When that's gone, I'll use 2400.

Have used Red Dot in 30-06 with 150 grain boolits, mostly for economy.

There's a guy called Seafire on some of the forums (especially 24 hour campfire) who uses Blue Dot for all kinds of rifle cartridges, most notably .22-250.

I'd pick herco for the same reason many people pick unique. A little slower and bulkier, works for me.

Unique. It's unique in that it's versatile and works very well in just about anything.

I started out using IMR 4759 in the 7.62x54r with cast bullets. 20.0 grs with Lyman's 314299 and never changed to another powder. It's that good. Have limited experience with cast in my handguns but used IMR 4227 in the 357 magnum in a Colt Trooper III and Marlin 1894 carbine. Frank

    Bullseye , Unique, and 2400.
I have used them all in various pistol, rifle, and shotgun loads over the years.
Skeeter Skelton, George Nonte, and Elmer Keith in later years all said the same.
Elmer always said you could load any of them with Black Powder too if you needed to.
    I would tend to agree.

If I couldn't find Unique ... I would see if I could find some of Western RamShot powder called True Blue ... it's between Green Dot and Unique on the burn rate charte , a little faster than Unique and a little slower than Green Dot .
I was reading an article about it in Handloader Magazine and it is so close to Unique in application that I'm going to keep an eye open for some . After the 2012 powder shortage I couldn't find any Unique ... I've been trying out any powder that might work in it's place .
Accurate #5 isn't bad ... but Ramshot True Blue might be even better ... the article gave it a good review and it's not a flake powder but small granules that meter like water !
Also low flash and clean burning ... what isn't to like !

I probably have 20-30lbs of different powders that work in handguns so picking just one is hard, i can say i have a favorite for different calibers but there isn't a standard that fits multiple calibers.

My reduced rifle loads are of the "mouse fat" variety and the only handgun I have is a 45 ACP. Bullseye works well in both, and until recently was available and reasonably priced. The 45 gets 3.1 grs and he 243, 06 and 30/40 get 5 grs.
