    pay for lead removal

Looked at an office remodel job today. In one of the rooms was two sheets of lead lined drywall that needs to be removed. I'm gonna get paid to bring home about 125 pounds of soft lead!

Better whack em with an "environmental clean up fee" to make sure you have enough money for propane and beer...

Don't forget the pre and post assessments for residual lead contamination. Gotta charge for both.

Good for you, free lead. I get paid to remove old cast sewer pipes with lead joints or lead water lines it is always great getting paid for lead instead of paying for lead.

My brother works for someone who remodels. He brought me a 72 lb lead shower pan from an old house. There is sure a lot of hidden lead everywhere.

The only thing better than free lead is getting paid for getting free lead!

Congrats. Free lead is great. Getting paid to take lead is even better. I met a garage owner the other day that asked me if I wanted his ww. I said yes he said thank god. ????? He said local scrap yard told him it was .08 cents a pound to get rid of it. Cost to him not pay him.

After I take the WW today I am going to tell him to stockpile the batts he has and I will be back since they will most likely charge him on them. LOL they go for 6 bucks around these parts at the right scrap yard.

Nice....lead in the pot and money in the pocket....it doesn't get much better than that.

Everything I’ve heard about batteries is a no go, due to safety issues. I would read more about it on this forum or elsewhere before attempting to use batteries to salvage the lead.

Attempting to salvage lead from batteries is so severely frowned upon that I've never even tried it. So, while I can't speak from first hand experience, I add my voice to those recommending against it.

He didn't say he was going to try to salvage the lead from the batteries, he was going to sell them for $6 each.

And probably after cutting any top posts off! Nah, I'm not jealous.

So? I still recommend against salvaging lead from batteries.

That dry wall X ray shielding is good stuff. I got about 100 pounds of it a few years ago. It is as absolutely pure as can be had I'm told.

In my experience, the reason for being in a well-ventilated space when smelting lead/drywall is the glue holding it together- makes nasty fumes!

Well there was only one sheet of lead. 4'x7'x1/16" =109 pounds. It wasn't even glued just screwed to the wall. Took maybe five minutes to get it off and in the truck.
