I've posted smelting pictures before and most of you have seen my set up. Here are a few more. A buddy scored about 400# of reclaimed shot last week and I helped him melt it all down. This was the first time that I have melted shot. It took longer to melt than any other lead that I have melted. About 70 minutes from the time I lit the burner until we started pouring.
The pot full of shot.
The sawdust burning off.
A ladle full of molten lead headed towards the ingot mold.
The landing zone.
We have melted a lot of lead with this set up. The burner and stand are homemade. The pot is steel and about 3/8 inches thick and will hold about 400 pounds. We run between 6 and 10 ingot molds that sit on a 1/2 X 6 in steel bar. The landing zone is misc pieces of scrap plywood sitting on a heavy duty cart. We lit the burner about 10:00 and were finished about 1:00. Total of 384 Lyman style ingots and 12 ingots from the bread stick mold.
