    .358 winchester suppressor

Who makes a suppressor for .358 winchester. Will be shooting sub sonic, would like to be able to take apart and clean. Companies skip over .358 and go to .45 I would like this to work efficiently.

I plan on using my .45 pistol suppressor when my .358 arrives. Ideally, I'd like a 9" rifle suppressor with .358" appropriate bore, but that's not likely to happen. With a 20" barrel and a fast pistol powder, it should still be stupid quiet. I may get the 9mm endcap just because.

The easy route would be to go with a "9mm" (.355") pistol suppressor and run a chucking reamer down its bore if the clearance is too tight for your comfort. I don't imagine the extra .003" on a .358 Winchester should make any real difference with a properly threaded muzzle. As you're probably aware, most commercial cans are not user-serviceable other than .22LR ones. Getting any residue out may require "the dip" (50/50 OTC peroxide/vinegar) and an ultrasonic cleaner, but then you have to worry about the aqueous lead acetate and disposal.

Next, I'd recommend either building your own under an ATF "Form 1" with K-baffles, or talk to a gunsmith who has the 07/02 SOT permits to work/rework/manufacture NFA items, and commission them to manufacture a suppressor for you that meets your requirements.

There are some out there that are big enough and serviceable.

Ignore the suggestion to just use a 9mm suppressor or to modify one, you'll just blow up the can.

A new Liberty Mystic X will work for the .308-based cartridges. Check Liberty's website for instructions on configuration and which serial number range is appropriate, as not all are.

SilencerCo sells the Hybrid which is rated for belted magnums. If the .46 endcap isn't quiet enough, they sell a 9mm endcap and unlike the baffles, the end cap isn't a controlled part, and you could actually modify it. More importantly the endcap could be replaced without rebuilding the entire unit.

You could also contact a custom manufacturer to get a custom unit, especially if you're concerned about getting the closest baffle to bullet fit.

I would suggest NOT using a pistol only rated can on a rifle. It will shooting subs only but if you ever forget and shoot some sonic 358 wins thru that pistol only rated can you will either find the can with the lawn mower or at the drs office

A 9mm pistol can would be perfectly FINE for subsonic .358 Winchester. .358 WIN muzzle pressure after 16" would be lower than about any "full power" 9mm Luger/Super in a 3"-4" pistol barrel using similar powder burn rates. However, they are correct that a full power .358 WIN will likely destroy a pistol can, which is probably why the manufacturers you contacted are not recommending it. They have no control over how you load your ammo and there's a non-zero probability the can will be exposed to excessive pressure.

The problem with commercial rifle cans is that they're generally not optimized for use with subsonic ammo. The Crux design is likely a set of clipped cones. Sure, it will take the edge off the muzzle blast but it will not be as effective as a dedicated subsonic K-baffle design. 2¢

Good luck with your purchase. I'd be interested in a range report when it arrives.

The Liberty Hoosier .358 was my (only) choice when I set up my .350RM; unfortunately they dropped that model due to slow sales.

This is the one I was thinking of: Liberty Mystic X, but I couldnt remember the name. I dont believe it would handle full power loads from the caliber the OP it asking about, but it is serviceable and you can get adapters for all kind of different threads. Its the one Id like to get first since I can put it on whatever...

    Things to think about.

SiCo asks you not shoot lead in their sealed cans.

Mystic X restricts cartridges over 45k PSI to 16" barrels. My .358 is a 12.5"

I don’t think any recommend lead, getting information from suppressor companies is not simple. I called and emailed some, you get general office staff answers, nothing to technical. Silencer shop made the paperwork easy and could answer some questions. First one is suppressor tuition I will learn what work the best eventually.

We have a suppressor I we use on our 9mm's that I would use on a 358 in a heartbeat. But then it is a rifle suppressor rated up to 300 WM, it came with a couple of end plates, one for 5.56/.223 and one for 9mm.

This just resurfaced for me, and I wanted to add some new options now available. First, the idea of suppressing a 358win is terrific. Second, most sealed cans can be cleaned with the Dip, google it, it eats lead, just don't use on cans with Aluminum components, which few centerfire do.

    Good options now include,

    YHM R9 (Great cheap option)
    SilencerCo Omega 36
    Liberty Mystic X
and obviously the rifle rated 45cal cans, but they get heavy, large and inefficient.

I know it's an old thread that got brought back, but there are also some large bore, "universal" cans on the market. SilencerCo has the hybrid 46, and Griffin has come out with the Bushwhacker 46 as an answer. The Bushwhacker is user serviceable and both cans have all the mounting options you could ever want.
