    Hard cast lead V Jacketed

    Hello One and All
After 7 years of being stuffed around by various gunsmiths I have finally got my 300 Sherwood double rifle finished, when I purchased it it came with a 130 gr double mold sadly it tends to spray them a bit, back to the drawing board, I had a friend make a 300 thou sizing die so I resized 110, 125, and 150 Gr sierra to 300, it groups very well using the 150 gr sierras, so I thought about casting hard lead to try and replicate the jacketed projectiles.

Has any body got any ideas on what sort of tin lead ratios I should try.

    Regards Trevor

iomskp I had to do a google of that cartridge, I would not be be surprised if wheel weight alloy with a little tin for fill out would suit your needs. If you have need of a mould CBE probably make just what you want. I realise that double rifles require a load that regulates well, but I am a great believer in heavy for calibre projectiles in cast. I have a 180gr and 200gr mould and could send you a few for trial if you wanted. Regards Stephen

Thanks for the offer Stephen the 150 gr sierra group well and I have a CBE mould it only groups with the 150's, the worst case scenario is that I spray paint the projectiles black so they look like lead.

    Regards Trevor
