I always thought "mold" was proprietary to this particular forum, just like "boolit". I tend to use "mold" and "boolit" when posting on this forum and "mould" and "bullet" for the rest of the world. I hadn't realized Lee used "mold" to describe their product until reading this thread. Went and looked and -- sure enough, they do that. I know some folks would say "well -- yeah!" but I am actually a Lee fan. Or at least of their 6-cavity model.

I call them molds. Don’t really matter. Everyone here should know what is meant. Kind of like the reference to smelting.

    nvbirdman,

MOULD is for bullets; MOLD grows on things, like leftover bread for example.

Well if you've got a mold growing on your bread, you should turn a tidy profit, but I wouldn't advise eating it.

That is exactly correct. And when talking about the old tools it is correct to use the proper term, mould.
We, ARTCA, have added mould to the writers style guide when publishing articles.

Either... I figured mold was the most popular version but it appears to be pretty evenly split. I didn't even realize NOE uses the term mould and I've bought from numerous times.

    Lyman & NOE use mould
    Lee, MP, Accurate use mold
    RCBS uses both.

    correct English = mould
    incorrect English = mold
(in reference to casting, not spoiled food items).

Talking about miss used English, have you really looked at some of the handles we accept without giving it a thought? Some of them are the spelling police making all the noise.

Just to add a visual reference, mold or mould from a 1928 Belding & Mull catalog. To them it's a mold.
