    Ruger 44 ejector housing

This seems to be a common problem with high recoil rounds, the ejector housing screw brakes off or strips the threads out of the barrel. Had one come in last week with a stainless barrel and the threads were gone. This time it hit me , there must be a way to keep this from happening. I machined a groove 5/16" by 1/2" in the barrel the same depth as the screw threads. Then I machined a small piece of stainless to fill the groove but left a lip at one end to help retain the housing.

That's a good idea and it'll STAY now. I had to send one back to Ruger- but it had the little stud instead of the threads.

I check the tightness of mine each time we have a match (SASS) and so far that's be enough
